The island of Tierra del Fuego was made famous by Charles Darwin's epic voyage on the Beagle in the 1830's. Ushuaia, is located on the shores of the Beagle Channel. It is the uttermost city of the world. A few miles West, the Tierra del Fuego National Park, protects 154.000 acres of mountainous terrain with rivers, lakes and peat bogs. Sailing the Beagle Channel a lot of marine birds like Black-browed Albatross, Magellanic Diving Petrels, Skuas, Shearwaters, Flightless Steamer Duck and Giant Petrels can be seen.
