Tour

Despite the general use of words and principles used mainly for marketing porpoises, Causana Viajes developed a serious effort to practice Responsible and Sustainable tourism. Our goal is really to work for local communities and nature’s benefit.
It is not an easy task considering the constant growth of tourism industry. More and more tourists –not voyageurs- are visiting natural areas producing more and more pressure on them. Also, not all the people involved in the tourism industry are well trained to carry out their jobs. Education and training is a key factor.
That is Causana’s new project. Give the opportunity for young people to receive the necessary training, and provide new generations with the necessary skills and resources to work in harmony with nature.
Soon we’ll send you more information about our plan. But if you are interested in knowing how to help us, please contact us and we will update you about our project and dreams.

Some new tours:

High Andean Flora

Flora

The Southern Cordillera de los Andes beauty is well known in amongst hikers and climbers but few know about the hidden treasures these mountains posses. Even the inhabitants of nearby cities have probably never seen the beautiful Violas, Ourisias or Naussavias hidden amongst rocks.

Mountains around the world are habitat for many endemic species or for endangered species and this is true for the Andes. In many cases they are the last “Refugio” for some species which have been exterminated in adjacent lower zones. Mountains contain indicators which are very sensible to climatic changes.

The overall global plant species richness of the alpine life zone alone is estimated to be around 10,000 species, approximately four per cent of the global number of higher plant species, situated on only three per cent of the global terrestrial land area.
The low hills on the East slopes of the Southern Andes and the extense treeless Patagonian steppe – with it’s clear, cold and brilliant skies, are very similar to the peaks in the Central Chilean Andes. The steppe has the same unique flora, with dwarf shrubs and dense cushions such as Chuquiraga, Adesmia, Oreopulus, Oxalis and Junellia.
